The M+ Museum in Hong Kong's West Kowloon Cultural District (65,000 sqm, designed by Herzog & de Meuron) has awarded its stone supply contract to HENGSHENG MARBLE S&T CO. LIMITED. The 35,000 sqm project spans 8 rare varieties: Italian Carrara White, Greek Volakas White, Turkish Travertine, Brazilian Black Galaxy Granite, Italian Silver Travertine, Spanish Emperador Gold, Iranian White Crystal, and Chinese Black & White Root Marble.
HENGSHENG MARBLE S&T CO. LIMITED established a dedicated technical team with five-phase protocol: source quarry selection in Italy/Greece/Turkey, precision CNC machining at ±0.1mm, digital quality traceability with 12 inspection checkpoints, climate-controlled container shipping with GPS monitoring, and on-site installation by a 30-person specialist crew.
First shipment is expected in November 2020, with full installation by June 2021.
M+, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, demands near-impossible consistency: symmetrical veining on lobby columns, continuous-bookmatched Calacatta across gallery floors. HENGSHENG MARBLE S&T CO. LIMITED built a dedicated digital layout system so every panel is dry-fitted in 3D before it ever reaches the wall.
Supply runs in two phases: lobby and public areas from November 2020, full installation complete by June 2021. HENGSHENG MARBLE S&T CO. LIMITED brought its sealed-sample system to museum work — both sides hold a seal, every batch is checked against it, and out-of-tolerance panels are remade free of charge.
