Quarry Advisor (Italy-Based)
€45,000–€75,000 / year (by experience & language) + project bonus
Based in Carrara, Italy, you will manage day-to-day relationships with our five contracted European quarries, evaluate each new block batch on site and secure the premium white-marble supply line that anchors HSST's European sourcing.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as HSST's on-site representative for five contracted European quarries, handling daily liaison, relationship management and negotiation support;
- Evaluate every newly quarried block batch in the field (color banding, resin lines, calcite veins, block size and yield), issuing batch assessment reports with recommended purchase prices;
- Follow quarry mining plans and lock key sections and tonnage 60–90 days ahead for pre-sold slab orders;
- Organise block auctions and price negotiations, keeping procurement cost within budget while owning purchased quality;
- Coordinate sawing, slab processing and inspection schedules so batch quality and delivery meet HQ and client requirements;
- Submit a monthly quarry-market report to Hong Kong HQ (price trends, mining updates, competitor activity and risk alerts).
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree or above in geology, mining engineering, materials science or a related field;
- Experience: 3+ years in quarry geology, mining consultancy or on-site stone procurement; marble quarry residency preferred;
- Languages: Italian C1+ (able to negotiate independently) and fluent English; Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is a plus;
- Skills: proficient in block quality grading (color banding, yield calculation, defect judgement); able to read quarry geological maps and mining plans;
- Attributes: comfortable with quarry-site work and European travel; high integrity with strong negotiation and cost awareness;
- Others: valid EU work permit, or eligible for company-sponsored work visa; driving license preferred.
Bonus Points
- Direct Carrara white-marble procurement experience preferred;
- Knowledge of Italian mining law, auction practice and industry network preferred;
- Basic photography or block-scan modelling skills a plus.
