Sintered stone — also called porcelain slab or ceramic slab — is made from feldspar, silica sand and natural clays, pressed and fired once above 1200°C without any resin or chemical binders. The result is a dense, non-porous, fully recyclable surface: Mohs 6–7 hardness, near-zero water absorption, and resistance to open flame, UV and frost. In large formats up to 3200×1600mm, a single slab runs continuously across countertops, cabinet doors, walls and floors.

Sintered stone vs quartz, pricing, chipping and seams — the questions Hong Kong customers ask most.
Both reach Mohs 6–7 and resist stains. The difference is the binder: quartz is roughly 90% quartz sand pressed with resin, while sintered stone is 100% natural minerals fired above 1200°C with no resin, giving it stronger heat and UV resistance and making it suitable for outdoor use and cabinet cladding. Quartz offers more patterns and strong value for indoor countertops. We can recommend the right one for your kitchen design and budget.
Pricing depends on brand, thickness, pattern and fabrication, usually quoted per running foot or as a full project; 6mm thin slabs suit doors and walls, while 12–20mm is recommended for countertops. It is very hard but relatively low in toughness, so a sharp knock on an unsupported edge can chip — which is why professional CNC cutting, proper thickening and support strips matter. Under normal use it is extremely durable. Minor chips can be polished and filled; significant edge damage usually requires replacing the affected piece, and all our works carry aftercare support.
Joints can be made extremely fine with colour-matched epoxy and 45° mitres, appearing nearly invisible from a distance. However, because it is a vitrified, kiln-fired material, the seam cannot be heat-fused and polished away like acrylic solid surface. The large slab format itself drastically cuts the number of joints, giving a far cleaner and more hygienic look than traditional small tiles.
Ready-stock patterns typically take 2–3 weeks from drawing approval to installation; special patterns or bulk projects take around 3–5 weeks.
